Delivery of a 13 foot High Bed Type 4 on a Mercedes 1224 4×4

We had the pleasure of a delivery and training of a 13 foot High Bed Type 4 on a Mercedes 1224 4×4 for our USA customer.

Self-build or making the right investment once ? 

It all started 4 years ago with the dream of his own expedition vehicle, by researching in trade magazines and visiting trade fairs. Initially, the idea was to build the vehicle himself, but he realised that he would have to build several vehicles to learn from his mistakes and ultimately realise his perfect travelling vehicle. When the project came to the decision-making stage, we were in the middle of the Covid period and the availability of components was also proving problematic. Therefore, he opted for a finished unit.

Ex fire fighter Truck

The Mercedes 1224 (>25 years old) was bought in the Netherlands, received a complete overhaul by Unimog Donald and will be finetuned before exporting to the USA. The age of the truck has the big advantage that all is mechanically operated, repairs are relatively easy to make and fuel emission class 1 will allow them to travel to countries with bad fuel quality.

Features

The 13 foot unit High Bed Type 4 features a comfortable bed, above the spacious seating area, that can be lowered, raised and levelled electronically. In the back of the unit you will find the combined toilet and shower. The layout of this 13 foot unit offers large cabinets with a lot of storage space. In the well-equipped compact kitchen everything just fits together, such as the combined oven-microwave-grill, two induction stoves, the fridge,  separate freezer and the coffee machine. This all comes as standard. In addition, our customer upgraded the interior with the washing machine and the kitchen set. On the outside his expedition vehicle has been completed with the motorbike carrier, the outdoor kitchen and chair- and table set, both safely stored in the rear storage box

A convinced choice for Bliss

Our client’s decision to go with Bliss Mobil was based on the container concept, build quality and proven standardisation.

The container concept convinced him and even though he lives in the USA, he chose this 25-year-old truck from Europe. The vehicle will be registered in the USA and will allow him to explore his home country in the coming years. After retirement, he may want to migrate to Asia, and thanks to the Bliss Unit’s container concept and independence from the truck, the unit can easily be attached to another truck in the future.

Bliss on the go !

The first trips with his Bliss mobile will take him to the beautiful and remote areas in the USA, before he will travel further to Alaska and South America. He is particularly looking forward to the South American part of his adventure, having lived and worked in South America for many years, and he can’t wait to explore the continent as an Overland Traveller.
