Which driving license do I need to participate in an expedition?
With a driver’s license for a vehicle up to a maximum weight of 7,500 kg, you can drive a Bliss Mobil rental expedition truck. In Europe this is equivalent to a C1 driving license. If you have a non-European driving license, we advise you to contact us. Then we will verify your driving license with regards to driving the expedition truck.
Do I need any experience to participate?
Anyone with the correct driving license can participate in the expeditions. Off-road experience is not a must. Our tour guide trains, guides and helps you when necessary to fully enjoy the adventure. During the trip you will automatically gain experience with recovery, off-road driving, adjusting tire pressure and taking difficult passages.
Do I drive the expedition truck myself?
Yes! You are the driver and drive the expeditions truck yourself every day. Even during the difficult passages. The greater the victory when you have faced difficult terrain. Support and help is always close by. It goes without saying that we train, help and assist where necessary.
Which vehicle do I go on an adventure with?
Our expedition trucks are Mercedes Ategos 1018 4×4 with a Bliss Mobil living unit. With the military-quality truck you can overcome harsh conditions and difficult off-road passages. The unit offers you the necessary luxury and comfort. Think of it as your home away from home. The expedition trucks are equipped with everything you need for your off-road adventure: from equipment to a comfortable unit with shower, toilet, bed and much more.
Can I rent another vehicle?
Not yet at this time.
Do I receive training before I hit the road?
We start each expedition with extensive training for truck and unit. On the way, our experienced tour guides are always nearby for additional information and any help.
Why is an expedition with a Bliss Mobil rental expedition truck so special?

In short; our expeditions take you on a real adventure, with the comfort of home. Thanks to the fully equipped Bliss Mobil unit, this expedition combines luxury and adventure.
What is on my packing list for an expedition?
Pack your suitcase as you would do for an adventurous holiday, in terms of clothing. We have thought of all the rest! From outdoor equipment, a fully equipped kitchen, bed linen and towels to navigation equipment and spare parts; the truck and unit are fully equipped and ready to go. We only expect you to enjoy the journey. After booking you will receive a packing list to help you pack for the expedition.
Do we always drive in a convoy or group?
During the expedition we will have to drive as a convoy several times. Think of departure, arrival and just before border crossings, but also on difficult terrain. That is exactly why we do these expeditions in small groups. In this way we can help each other with challenging passages and recovery (if necessary). That makes it possible to get to beautiful places where you cannot go alone.
In many cases you can decide for yourself whether you want to travel independently (based on coordinates) or go with us/the other adventurers. At the end of each day you will meet for the night at the bivouac/campsite. Of course you also meet regularly on the way. Support and help is always close by.

Can I join with my family (4 persons) in the Expedition?
All our expedition vehicles are suitable for 3 people, except for one vehicle per expedition. So yes, we do welcome families of 4 persons! ! We currently have one expedition vehicle that comfortably accommodates up to four people, featuring a raised sleeping bed and a convertible couch. Please let us know your interest in the booking request comments
What are the additional costs for a third or fourth person?
The additional costs for a 3rd person is € 1500. In the cabin (and the unit) there is room for max 3 persons. We have 1 expedition vehicle available for 4 people, in this case we will calculate 2* € 1500 in addition
How much should I calculate for Fuel costs?
During the trip, the fuel consumption of the truck varies between 25 liters per 100 km and up to 50 liters per 100 km in off-road conditions. The truck is equipped with 300-liter fuel tanks, and we normally require approximately two full tanks during the journey. This results in an estimated total fuel consumption of around 600 liters. Fuel prices vary significantly depending on the destination. In Iceland, fuel costs approximately €1.80 per liter, while in Morocco and other parts of Africa, prices are around €1.20 per liter. Can we buy groceries before the expedition starts?
On departure there is the opportunity to do some shopping. Fill the refrigerator and (kitchen) cabinets with your favorite ingredients, snacks and supplies for on the go. You travel completely self-sufficient, so you provide your own food.
The route book clearly indicates where you will have opportunities to restock groceries along the way. This means you do not need to shop for the entire journey at once, as there will be regular possibilities to purchase fresh products during the trip.
When the situation allows, you can also order take-away or dine in restaurants.
Are other destinations planned for the future?
Certainly! All confirmed destinations can be found in the travel agenda. Destinations in the USA and Asia are on our list for the upcoming years. We continue to expand the travel offer continuously. The duration of the expeditions is between 10 and 21 days.
When do I need to be at the starting location?
We advise you to fly in one day before the start and enjoy cities like Reykjavik or Marrakech by yourself. The first day will be used for training, shopping etc. If you are not able to fly in the day before, it is no problem, you can fly in the morning on the first day and you will just have a busy first day ! After subscription, you will receive detailed preparation information about the meeting point and how to get there, from the airport or the hotel.
Which kind of personal insurances are needed for this trip? insurance I organise myself ?
Comprehensive travel insurance is required, including repatriation and medical coverage that covers the activities during the trip. Cancellation insurance is recommended if desired.

What is the deposit for?
Damage to the truck, damage to the interior, flat tires and use of spare parts (excluding wear).
Is the deposit my maximum risk?
If you follow all instructions given by the tour guide, the €15,000 deposit represents your maximum liability for damage. If full comprehensive insurance has been taken out, this maximum liability is reduced to €2,500.
However, in cases where instructions are ignored or in the event of reckless or irresponsible behavior, the full amount of the damage will be charged, even if it exceeds the deposit or the reduced liability amount.
Why do we need to lay down the deposit?
The deposit is for covering the damage to the truck, like flat tires use of spare parts, and damage to the unit. The use of spare parts are parts that are not expected to wear out or brake normally, so for example when hitting an object with the bumper, or breaking something in the driveline.(excluding wear).
Also the deposit covers the fuel costs when not fuelling up the truck at the end of the expedition. This applies as well for unpaid bills that may have been advanced during the trip.
Before departure you sign off on the balance, and the deposit will be reimbursed within 1-2 weeks after the end of the expedition.
When do I pay the deposit and when do I get my deposit back ?
We request to have the deposit in our account one week before the start of the expedition. You will get ( the balance) of your deposit back within 1-2 weeks after the end of the expedition.
Can I pay the deposit by credit card or paypal ?
The deposit is preferably not payable by credit card or paypal, it must be a bank wire transfer in Euros. In case you wish to make the deposit by credit card, we will have to charge an additional 4% transaction costs.
What parts can be damaged that are under the liability of the deposit?
We have seen over the last few years that we had to charge for things like a flat tyre, broken mirror, broken storage box etc. This came in between and around € 500-3000. The reason why we ask for the deposit is that we do a unique self drive expedition and drive really off-road which cannot be insured at full risk. Luckily, with the expert guidance, we limited the damage risk as much as possible.
What happens in a medical emergency during the expedition?
The travel guides are trained in first aid in the event of accidents and they also carry medical supplies for first aid. In addition, they are well prepared to immediately make the right local contacts and actions in the event of an emergency. It goes without saying that you bring your own medicines and specific medical supplies from home. And travelling is at your own risk. We do visit remote areas with limited acces to direct medical help.
Can I join with my family (4 persons) in the Expedition?
We currently have only expedition vehicles that are suitable for 3 People. So if you have a family of 4 persons or more, we advise to rent either an additional expedition truck or car.
From this season we rent out an additional car for families on each of our trips.
Can we also organize a private trip with Bliss Mobil expedition vehicles?
If you want to organize for your own company, friends or family group an unforgettable expedition, Please send us your specific request. We will be happy to help you create an unforgettable experience with friends, family or colleagues.
Do you offer exclusive rental expeditions for companies or groups?
We can also offer companies and groups an exclusive incentive or team building program for their employees by means of an unforgettable expedition.
What if I order a Bliss Mobil unit afterwards, and use this trip as a first introduction?
I want to go on a trip, because I want to try out a Bliss Mobil unit, because I plan to buy a Bliss. there are special conditions. When ordering a Bliss Mobil unit within 6 months after the expedition, you get a € 5.000,- return of the Rental Expedition as a discount on your new order.
Can I rent a Bliss Mobil unit privately to go on an expedition by myself?
We do not rent vehicles out without an organized tour and support.. The rental is therefore exclusively organized for expedition trips by Bliss Mobil.
Is the trip friendly for kids?
Our rental expeditions are a super experience for kids as well. It is a great mixture of enjoying being on the road as a family, As we really go inland and off road it’s a kind of exciting-expedition for everyone.
I have special dietary needs, can this be accommodated?
Yes, we mainly do groceries in the large villages / towns. Individual diet or allergy needs are not a problem. On the last day we have a dinner in a restaurant, and please let us know about your dietary needs, so we can arrange.
Do non-EU Citizens Need a Visa for Iceland?
U.S. citizens may visit Iceland without a visa for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes. The US is listed under the Schengen visa-free countries, and as such, its citizens are exempt from the short-stay visa requirement. Your passport should be valid for at least three months beyond your intended date of departure from the Schengen area. Iceland is still considered part of the Schengen zone and currently allows for non-EU visitors to enter the country visa-free. However, as of November 2023 most non-EU tourists will need an Icelandic ETIAS to continue to enjoy this visa exemption.
Do you need a visa for Morocco?
Travellers from many countries do not need a visa to visit Morocco for a period of up to 90 days. Currently, citizens of Australia, New Zealand, the USA, the UK, the EU and Canada, among many others, do not need a visa to travel to Morocco, provided they have a passport of usually six months’ validity and an onward or return ticket (with supporting documents).Make sure that your passport is stamped when you arrive in Morocco, as you may have difficulty leaving the country if your passport does not bear an entry stamp.
